Well, I am going back to Japan again and I honestly cannot wait. My main purpose for going to Japan this year is for the 23rd International Congress of Vexillology at Yokohama City. I am going to meet many friends for the first time in the flesh, so I hope it goes well. I am planning to get a few books from Japan and Croatia, so I will come home with a heavy ass bag. No paper by me this year, though I was begged to by the organizers.
Unlike last year, I am not going to use a Japanese carrier. I decided to go with Singapore Airlines because it is very cheap. Under 900 USD for a round trip flight from LAX to Nartia was a steal. In comparison, I paid about 1300 for a flight (combined with JAL and American, also had flights from San Diego to LA and back). I will also be staying in manga cafes, so my lodging will be completely different. Sure I loved Touyoko Inn and the AP Hotel in Osaka, but I am looking to go budget. Also no cell phone for me this time; I'm Skyping my way through Japan. I will try and keep yall updated here, at my facebook and also at my Twitter page. I got finals now, so see yall in a bit.

Hey Zach! How are you? Guess what? I got an A in Japanese 101 here at CSUSM!
I'm making a blog on everything "autistic approved", from airlines to zoos. The blog will go public probably in a month or two. Hey could you tell me which airlines have been the most friendly to you (I mean cabin space, noise level, food, extra costs, staff organization, pre-takeoff wait time), especially for long distance travel? That would really help 'cause I don't fly much. Thanks and good luck in Japan!
Glad you are doing well. I flew a lot recently on four different airlines; American Eagle, American, JAL and US Air. I'll help you with your blog, but I just need to jot down my thoughts.
Ok, here goes nothing:
American Eagle -Avoid if you hate noise. I personally wasn't fond of it, I needed friends and iPod to avoid it.
American - Alright going from LAX to NRT (Narita Airport, Japan), very bad from NRT to LAX. Very militaristic on the way home, some will not like it being that rigid. Had EN and JA speaking staff, so the change isn't present as much, but still a lot of Asiatic food, such as sushi.
Japan Airlines - JAL was amazing. If you slept, you missed no meals or drinks. Too bad it was only from NRT to ITM (Itami Airport, Japan). Bad if you hate change or 日本語を分かりません, then JAL isn't for you domestically.
