Taro Aso now PM of Japan

According to the Los Angeles Times, Taro Aso has become the Prime Minister of Japan. Like the former PM Yasou Fukuda, he had a family member serve as prime minister in the past. He is more hawkish than Fukuda, and has made frequent visits to the Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo. Aso has held four Cabinet posts, competed in the Olympics as a clay-shooter and he likes manga, according to the linked article.

I posted this at the Danny Choo website, where the coverage of Fukuda resigning was also covered. Frankly, I think Japan had a nationalist break when Fukuda spent the year in office as PM. Most of the leaders in my recent memory, like Shinzo Abe (who the CIA still lists as PM for Japan), were like Taro Aso and visit Yasukuni. I know Koizumi did, but Fukuda didn't when he was PM. I'll have to wait and see what Taro Aso does, but at least his name is easier to spell in hiragana.
