Today at Palomar, we had an event called the club rush. If you are not in college, what this means is that clubs are setting up tables in a common area and just solicit folks to join. Many clubs were out there, but the one I helped to create last semester was absent from the festivities. I personally have been dealing with a health issue (intestines not cooperating with me, going to the hospital on Friday, you don't want to know the full details).
There are two clubs that have caught my interest. The first was Hillel of the North County. While I do know that it is a Jewish organization and I am not Jewish at all, I still feel the organization could use members that want to learn about the land of milk and honey. Plus, they have offered to teach Hebrew classes, and I think it might be interesting to learn yet another language (I formally learned English, Japanese and Spanish, but I studied on my own a bit of Russian and can recognize the other Slavic languages and starting to pick up Chinese due to my girlfriend and some of her friends). The second group is called Students Helping Students. This new group wants to use the experience of students who have been to Palomar and to help those who just came to the campus or want to go. I honestly believe there is a lot I can contribute to both orgs, but I am not sure how much time I got.
