Well, it looks like I got my answer from a question I asked in my post about the Akihabara murders. While watching Code Geass Season 2, episode 9, the newsflash about the murders was put at the top of the screen. You can see the screenshot I took at the top of this post. Preceded that, I heard a ding like noise and the text appears "JNN News Flash." I am not sure what other series did, or what other TV stations did; this broadcast was on Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS). The main question is if this will affect future airings. I do not have the answer to that question, but it does remind me of what happened to the final episode of School Days around this time last year.
