Japanese language and San Diego elections
Yesterday, I completed poll worker training for the County of San Diego yet again. I decided to work at a precinct yet again, and I was sent to a different location (yet again). The pay is good, about 150 USD (tax free yo!) and I get to legally miss class and other stuff. Well, one thing I did find out is that I do not get paid for Japanese language support during the elections. If I spoke Spanish, Filipino (the PC term for Tagalog) and/or Vietnamese, I would have been paid 15 bucks (after passing a test). I know in the San Marcos area, there are many Japanese speaking folks, but I am not sure how many are citizens. I am not sure if my sensei is a naturalized citizen or not (dual citizenship is not my strong suit and I am not going to open that can of worms here without checking some things out). I am not sure in San Diego proper, there is a giant Japanese speaking voting population, but there is a traveling Consulate of Japan that goes there every few months or so. Hopefully, I wish there is Japanese language support for the elections in San Diego, but this dream of mine probably won't happen any time soon. But if I happen to move to LA County, which I won't, I am sure to be able to help folks in Japanese. Not sure what the pay is, but I am too arsed to find about it now at 1 AM. Well, I got a science final, see how that goes. One thing for sure, I refuse to take an online only class ever again. I had more brain farts with that class than anything else.
